rej0ice replied to your post: What I should be doing: Writing my résumé …

As in questions you would be asked or questions you should ask the interviewer?

Questions to ask the interviewee. On Monday and Wednesday we’re having two different people in class and we’re going to ask them questions and stuff. I have to do five for each, two of which I’ll ask in class.

Here are some questions and answers to interview questions. I wrote this last year while I was working at the shelter and helped the women within the shelters find work.

Common Interview Questions and Successful Answers
    1. Tell us about yourself.
This is a very common question so be sure to have something prepared to say that isn’t too long or rehearsed. Share about your work experience and educational background, starting from the earliest to the present time.
    2. What are some of your biggest strengths?
There are many different things to focus on and remember to be honest: your problem solving skills, working within a team, leadership, working under pressure, positive attitude or energetic personality are just some mention.
    3. What is one of your weaknesses?
This is another area where you need to be honest and positive. When describing your weakness say something such as “I’m a very detail-oriented person so I take longer on projects than most, but this means every little detail is taken care of and perfect.”
    4. Why should we hire you?
This is where you need to sell yourself the most. If you applied for the job from an advertisement you saw, be sure to use the skills they wanted in candidates. Eg. If the ad said “team players, great communication skills and detail oriented people”, use these adjectives, just don’t recite them!
    5. Why do you want to work here?
Use information you know about the position and company. Pull information from the research you’ve done and already know. The experience you’ve had with the company is another option. For example, if it’s a store or restaurant, mention how the work environment seemed very fun and attractive the last time you were here.
    6. What was a challenge or conflict you faced at your previous job?
This is a question that involves discussion of a challenge or conflict and it’s resolution. Be sure to focus more on the resolution and what you learned than the actual problem.
    7. What did you leave your last job?
This is when honesty and positivity need to combine. If your job was seasonal, say that. If you are unemployed, you could state it as “leaving your last job gave you a chance to search for something that was more team-focused and in line with your skills.” Make it positive!
    8. What are your salary or pay expectations?
This is a hard question because you don’t want to give a number so high that you will not be a candidate anymore. You also don’t want to give a number so low that you will be underpaid. It’s best to open this up for discussion so you can agree upon it or ask what most people with the same background receive. A way of doing this is: “This is definitely something we can agree upon. What would you pay someone with my background?” Be sure to do your research about typical pay wages and salaries.
    9. What do you like to do in your spare time?
This is a great question for the interviewer to get to know you and your interests. Share any hobbies or volunteering that you do. Try to avoid controversial activities or ones that may not be appropriate (such as drinking alcohol or doing drugs). Also try to avoid subjects that may inhibit your availability or work performance (such as a relative who needs one-on-one care or assistance.)

    RE: Five Iron Frenzy

katielopezzz replied to your photo: Does anyone know what Five Iron Frenzy is counting…
My brother and I were talking about this today. It totally is. What else could it be? They already have a DVD. And it’s on FIF Day.

YEAH. This can’t just be a coincidence! It’s freaking FIF Day too!

Ohhh! Please please please! This would be AMAZING.

This is my Digimon tattoo, It’s on my hip (and really hard to get a good picture of). I got it done by a friend a couple weeks ago. I decided to get this tattoo because Digimon was a big part of my childhood, but also because of what I learned watching the show for so long.
This symbol is the Crest of Courage, which reminds me to be strong and vigilant even when I’m afraid. It reminds me to always stand up for my friends and the things I believe in.
